Successful first phase: Cooperation between the Sheltersuit Foundation, various local social aid organisations and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Germany
The first phase of the support initiative to help homeless people in a total of 15 German cities is slowly coming to a successful end. With the beginning of the first week of November, an initial number of 100 protective Sheltersuits have already been distributed to homeless people in need throughout Germany. In the first phase, 12 assets from URW’s management portfolio across Germany have been part of the initiative – in the Stuttgart region, in Munich, in Berlin and in Gera. In addition, the mixed-use development project Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier is also part of the initiative.
In this context, URW has also launched an extensive online and offline information offer in the participating assets to raise awareness around the topic and to call for further donations. URW itself donated the first 100 Sheltersuits. In the meantime, many partners have also joined the initiative with financial donations and also donations in kind, e.g. dm-drogerie markt Deutschland, Breuninger, Alnatura and GameStop
In the second phase in autumn 2022, further assets in North Rhine-Westphalia, Frankfurt/Main and Leipzig will be part of the initiative. Within the entire cooperation, all 22 shopping centres operated by URW in Germany will participate.
